Charity - Owner - Creative Director

Charity started her 'ori Tahiti journey at the age of 7 years old in Honolulu, Hawaii and danced in the weekend shows at the Ala Moana Shopping Center.  Her family moved to the Bay Area at the age of 11 where she joined local dance company Te Mana O Te Ra under the direction of Lisa & Rey Aguilar.  Charity danced with them for over 30 years and was co-creative director for many years. 

 

Solo competition career: 

  • Overall soloist winner for 5 years in a row at the Merced Tahiti Fête.

  • In 1994 Charity competed as a soloist at the San Jose Tahiti Fête. That year, Charity became San Jose Tahiti Fete's first ever overall award winner as they created the title for her due to her scores being well above the average for both female & male categories with over 300 soloists. San Jose Tahiti Fete was known at the time as the United States largest Tahitian dance competition and considered the Olympics of Tahitian dance.   

  • Overall winner at the Honolulu Tahiti Fête and Hilo Hawaii Tahiti Fête

  • Won 1st or 2nd at the Reno Heiva, Kauai Tahiti Fête, Florida Tahiti Fête, Merced Tahiti Fête, Las Vegas Heiva, and San Jose Tahiti Fête

  • 2nd place 'Aparima - Heireva MX Virtual Comp. 2020

  • 2nd place 'Aparima - 'Ori-'Orilympic Virtual Comp. 2021

  • 2nd place 'Aparima - Heiva San Diego 2021

  • 3rd place Couples category with co-director Krystle- Tiurai 'Ori Tahiti Competition 2021 

 

Charity has a passion and deep respect for 'ori Tahiti and believes in the healing mana (power) of dance.

Krystle - Creative Director

Krystle has been a student of 'ori Tahiti for over 25 years and spent several years dancing for one of California's top Polynesian dance groups, "Hitia O Te Ra".  She has competed and excelled in several Tahitian dance competitions, and has produced children's workshops and performances in the US, Cambodia and Australia.

  • 1st place - Fa'a No Te 'Ori Competition 2020

  • 2nd place - Hura Tahiti 2021 International Competition

  • 3rd place - Couples category with co-director Charity - Tiurai 'Ori Tahiti Competition 2021

  • 2nd place - Kiki Raina Tahiti Fete 2022

  • 2nd place - Te 'Ori Here 2023

  • 2nd place - 'Ori Nui SF 2023

  • 1st place - Heiva San Diego 2023


In addition to 'ori Tahiti, Krystle is inspired by other forms of movement and has studied jazz, contemporary, Latin, dancehall and hip hop.  She has a deep passion for volunteering with organizations across the globe.  She has traveled overseas as a volunteer to aid women & children in Cambodia, Portugal, empowering them through creative movement, and was also Co-Director of Nuholani based in Melbourne, Australia.
